Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (AUPET), also known as Energo University, is a leading research university in Central Asia specializing in energy, telecommunications, information technology, and aerospace technologies. Established in 1975 as the Almaty Institute of Power Engineering (originally separated from the Energy Faculty of the Kazakh Polytechnic Institute), the university was officially renamed in 1997 and later named after its first rector, Gumarbek Daukeyev. AUPET is a non-profit joint-stock company with approximately 5,609 undergraduate and 379 graduate students. The university ranks in the top 10 of the National Rating of the Best Technical Universities of Kazakhstan and boasts nearly 100% graduate employment. It holds first place nationally in specialties such as Electrical Power Engineering, Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications, and Instrumentation. The university offers double degree programs with Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), and partners with the New York Film Academy. AUPET actively participates in international projects including USAID, Erasmus+, and Horizon Europe. The campus includes modern laboratories, innovation centers, three dormitories, a library, conference hall, and five sports halls.
