The Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering (KazGASA) is a leading private higher education institution in Kazakhstan, specializing in architecture, design, construction, and engineering. Founded in 1980 as the Almaty Architectural and Construction Institute (AASI), it was reorganized and renamed KazGASA in 1992. The academy is located in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, and has an enrollment of approximately 5,000–6,000 students. KazGASA is part of the International Educational Corporation (IEC), formed in 2007 by merging KazGASA with the Kazakh-American University (KAU). It was the first university in Central Asia and Southeast Asia to receive UNESCO–UIA accreditation for its Architecture program in 2007. The university maintains partnerships with 117 universities across 32 countries and offers programs in Kazakh, Russian, and English. Today, KazGASA offers 39 bachelor’s, 16 master’s, and 6 doctoral programs. In the 2025 Atameken National Ranking, two of its educational programs ranked first nationwide, and the university was included in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings in 2025.
