Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University (EKU) is a major public multidisciplinary university located in Ust-Kamenogorsk (Oskemen), the capital of the East Kazakhstan Region. Founded on July 5, 1952, as a pedagogical institute, it was transformed into a full university in 1991 and named after the prominent linguist and Turkologist Sarsen Amanzholov in 2003.
